Research in IPE

Dr. Betty Yu answering student questions

Research initiatives across the country and the world are investigating the effectiveness of IPE to improve professional practice at both pre-professional and professional levels in order to continually improve implementation of IPE within and across multiple disciplines and professions. The chart below is the result of our efforts to provide extensive data from numerous sources conducting research on IPE. Through our survey of major research institutions involved in IPE and published studies, we developed a summary that includes the following components: (a) program name and annotation, (b) scope of practice, (c) abstract, (d) population, (e) methods, (f) results and (g) future initiatives. For example, the purpose of the study on Interprofessional Education in Japan outlines the status and barriers of IPE implementation in medical schools in Japan. The table below is a sample of our complete survey, which is downloadable in complete form as a pdf.
